Hi Michaela, thanks for sitting down with Style Sourcebook. We’re thrilled to be exploring The Blue Space’s new tile range. Can you tell us a little bit about this exciting addition?

Hi, and thank you for the opportunity to show off our new range of tiles and mosaics. We’re excited to announce that The Blue Space has expanded our offerings with a brand-new category: Tiles!

So, whether you’re working on your own renovation or a commercial project, we’ve got an extensive range of high-quality tiles that are designed to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

"Selecting the perfect tiles is like choosing the foundation of a masterpiece. As an interior designer, I delve deep into the essence of each space, considering not only its functionality but its personality. From the sleek elegance of porcelain to the rustic charm of natural stone, every tile tells a story. I pay keen attention to texture, color, and pattern, ensuring harmony with the overall design scheme.”

Sounds exciting! Could you explain the range of colours, textures, and sizes available?

Our tiles, natural stone options, and mosaics have been hand-selected to ensure we are curating a collection that can complement every style and design. From terrazzo to hand-made subway tiles, feature stone, large format floor and wall tiles, Penny Rounds, Kit Kat mosaics, and more. We have such a wide range of colours, textures, and sizes available.

What are your top tips for ensuring tiles and other bathroom products are cohesive?

I recommend always selecting the main two focal points of your bathroom first, whether that be a stunning herringbone feature wall or a fluted timber vanity. Starting your project with those two products in mind will ensure the rest of your space is based on that tone and style, resulting in cohesion. Plus, this also ensures that your style doesn’t get lost along the way, and you always know to come back to those original key pieces.

How do tiles contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of a bathroom?

Your tiles set the tone for your bathroom from the moment you walk in. And it’s not only the tile that influences this tone, it’s also factors such as the tile finish, the grout you choose, and the pattern you decide to lay the products in, just to name a few.

Tiles can also dictate where your eyes are drawn to within your bathroom. For example, vertically placed tiles can bring your eyes upward, making your bathroom appear bigger. Or, they can point to focal features within your space, such as a freestanding bath.

Selecting the perfect tiles is like choosing the foundation of a masterpiece. As an interior designer, I delve deep into the essence of each space, considering not only its functionality but its personality. From the sleek elegance of porcelain to the rustic charm of natural stone, every tile tells a story. What advice would you give to someone looking to choose tiles for their bathroom renovation?

Choose something that stands out and has a bit of interest to it. This doesn’t mean picking the boldest colour or pattern though, simple tiles can go a long way. For example, a white rectangular feature wall tile can be elevated with an edgy industrial subway tile lay and dark grey grout or a calming coastal straight vertical lay and white grout. Plus, these options mean your bathroom renovation also won’t date as quickly.

What tiles would you recommend for current interior design styles?

Right now, the most popular styles our customers are looking for are coastal, modern and farmhouse.

For coastal style, we recommend a white Kit Kat mosaic, paired with something soft and understated, like a large, ivory tile.

Modern style projects are a little more versatile but we recommend anything with a bit of texture and depth to it. It’s the perfect blend between creating some interest and keeping it traditional.

Farmhouse is renowned for that rustic style so we recommend going with something classic, such as a sleek clay tile to set the scene, then complementing it with a travertine tile in a warm tone.
