What's Hot in Interiors in 2021
What better way to celebrate the start of 2021 than to take a look at some of the hottest home trends we’re seeing in the interiors space. Keeping in tune with the warmer weather that summer brings, we’re definitely noticing more of a relaxed and playful mood coming through the latest interior products. While our beloved Coastal Lux and Classic Hampton aesthetic is here to stay, muted pops of colour and tones, playful accessories and décor items and quirky statement pieces are all on the rise. The start of a new year is always one of our favourites as it is when a lot of the homeware and furniture designers release new product ranges for the year. While it’s hard to choose just a few, we’ve narrowed down what we think are going to be some of the hottest trends in interiors for 2021.
TACTILITY TAKEOVER
If it makes you want to touch it then you probably should buy it. Tactility is having a huge influence on the interior design world at the moment and we are here for it. Boucle fabrics, rustic ceramic vases, marble homewares, textured weaves, embossed metal, and natural materials are all key features that are being seen in both the latest furniture and décor ranges. Want us to let you in on a little secret we’ve discovered about tactility? Incorporating a range of different tactile pieces into your interior is a clever way to add visual interest and character. It takes your interior from being flat and one dimensional to being injected with life and personality.

STATEMENT LIGHTING
Gone are the days when the only reason to include a lamp in your space was because you needed it to read at night. Lighting has become much more than simply a task-orientated homeware necessity. Instead, it is now something that is more a work of art and a statement piece that is incorporated into your home to add a sense of charm and character. From the sculptural ‘Zephyr Alabaster Table Lamp’ to the vintage inspired ‘Baleno Alabaster Desk Lamp’, there is a large focus on bold, quirky, and stylish lighting pieces this season. Below we have selected a few of our favourite lights from Coco Republic’s new Summer 20/21 range.
OCCASIONAL CHAIRS
If there is one thing we love at Style Sourcebook it’s a good occasional chair. Why we love occasional chairs so much is that they don’t take up a lot of precious interior real estate in your home. They are also a great addition for any interior lover who is itching to buy another piece of furniture but doesn’t want to spend too much or refurnish an entire room. Plush velvet, boucle and linen are all fabrics that are trending big time right now. We’ve narrowed down a few of our favourites below. You’re bound to find one that will fit in almost any nook and cranny of your home.
PLAYFUL SUMMER COLOURS
Hello beautiful summer colours. Nothing lifts your mood more than a fresh new summer colour palette. In the soft furnishings department, floral bed linen, fresh and block colours and basically anything linen (sigh of relief) is here to stay. If your home is in much need of a facelift, try changing up your colour palette and incorporating some summer colours into your soft furnishings. It’s been proven that colour has a profound affect on your mood. Some colours make you feel more happy, whereas others may make you feel dull and deflated. When looking for what type of colours to add into your home, we suggest choosing colours that you love and that bring you a sense of joy. Adairs are always a favourite when it comes to sourcing beautiful linen and soft furnishings.
